Just days ago I finished reading “As America Has Done to Israel-The Result: Massive National Disasters” by John P. Mcternan. This is not a sponsored review in any way other than I have linked to Amazon where you can check it out for yourself and it is my affiliate links.

I had heard about this book quite some time ago and recently borrowed a copy from a friend. This is John McTernan’s third book about his research correlating the way Nations have treated Israel or the Jewish people and the disasters that soon befell those Nations.

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee;

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing;

And I will bless them that bless thee; and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Genesis 12:1-3

The work done by Mr. McTernan is pretty incredible. Reading this book makes me want to go look up his other two books.

In this book he goes back into the beginning of America’s history of treatment or attitudes regarding Israel or the Jews- as far back as President George Washington’s era and into modern times of 2008. He touches on other Nations as well.

My curiosity at work…

While I was reading the book I did a little research myself. According to this MSNBC report Obama told Israel they should go back to the 1967 borders? That was May 19, 2011 – three days later we had the Joplin tornado disaster.

I know that the Obama Administration has been in the news for refusing to acknowledge Jerusalem as part of Israel to the point of denying U.S. citizens born in Jerusalem from having Israel listed as the country of his/her birth to removing “Jerusalem, Israel” acknowledgement  from pictures posted on the White House’s website.  Could Tuesday’s Virginia earthquake (near Washington D.C.) and now Hurricane Irene be God’s hand at work sending us a message? I mean, earthquakes and hurricanes do happen- but the timing and intensity- could that be God trying to get our attention? How about our country’s ongoing financial problems (that word is an understatement)?

Back to the book…

Chapter 5 is titled A Tale of Two Countries: America Blessed, Russia Cursed two countries with some large similarities but some major differences in how each treated the Jews. He goes back into history showing in 1727  “Queen Catherine of Russia banned all Jews from the country” and works his way into the 1900’s. This chapter deals with a lot of history.

Chapter nine was 75 pages long. That’s long! The title of the chapter is America on a Collision Course with God and details by month and years various Presidential Administrations attitude or actions towards Israel/ the Jews and what has happened to our country during those times. This chapter deals mostly with events from 1991-2008.

Mr. McTernan’s research begs the question: Could God really be judging America with natural and national which includes financial disasters ? Is God trying to get our attention?

Personally, I don’t see why God would not be judging us.

Besides the fact that our current Presidential Administration is not obviously being a blessing to Israel, we are a self-centered nation that is becoming more and more “open” to homosexuality, we fight for the right to kill our children, people- even religious leaders (especially Catholic priests) are abusing our children, kidnapping and sexual slavery, and other sins such as  fornication, adultery, idolatry… you name it!

God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (a place of homosexuality Genesis 19:5)  but not until after Abraham asked repeatedly,  begging God  to not destroy it if there were at least 10 righteous persons there (Genesis 18:20-32).  There were not even 10!

God sent angelic messengers to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah and to force Abraham’s nephew Lot, his wife and two daughters out of there. His daughters husbands refused to leave and didn’t believe Lot’s warning to them (Genesis 19:12-16). How Lot got there to begin with is another story, lets just say, Lot did not make very good decisions.

Our nation needs to repent of its sinful ways. Its not just a who’s-in-charge-thing, its a “people” thing. Our leaders represent the voice of  “our people”. Unfortunately, our nation has been following the wrong voices for some time.

How much longer will God… bless America?

*A Judge of justice must pass appropriate judgements for crimes committed- if God does not judge America at some point, would he be a just God? Are you ready for that day? Take the Good Test here.  Pray for our President and our Leaders that they will be a blessing to Israel and lead our Nation to be a blessing to Israel. When Christ comes back He’s going to keep His promise to the Jews, they will have ALL their land and the Lord Jesus Christ will be their King.

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15
