When the topic of “judging” comes up I think of a couple things…one is the judge shows on TV, Judge Judy, and all that- but the other is how people say “Don’t judge”- as if  “judging” is a sin. Period.

Its not.

True,  there is a wrongful kind of judging and we will ALL  be judged by THE Judge someday.  Actually, believers in Christ will have their works judged but not their sins because they accepted Jesus’s gift on the cross as payment for their sins.  Now, those who have rejected Jesus as Savior in this life will be judged by God according to their sins.

And by what measure do you think we will be judged?

We will judged according to God’s Word.  And he has already told us in His Word, the bible, what sin is. I have often in the past referred readers to the “Good Test” where they are walked through the 10 Commandments to see where they stand before God. God’s Word tells us that the Law was given to show us our need for a Savior.  Do you really think you’re “good enough” to get to heaven on your own? Take the test here.

Our sins must be paid for by one of two ways.

For one,  you can pay for them yourself by spending eternity in a burning hell, separated by God for all eternity because a sinful person cannot stand in His presence (and lets face it, heaven is His home, not ours). There will be no chance of changing one’s mind once this life is over.

But, the good news is…you don’t have to pay for your sins. Jesus did that for you on the cross.  However, you DO  have to choose whether or not you will believe it and then you must receive this gift.  Afterall,  you can’t claim ownership of a gift  until you receive it, right? Thats not hard to understand, is it?

So, back to “judging”.  Jesus himself said in John 7:24…”Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgement.”

Righteous judgement comes from God’s Word and having a right relationship with Him.  Receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and get into His Word and you will be able to make righteous judgements. Judging right from wrong is not a sin.  To discern is to judge.

Do you know the true gospel of Jesus Christ?

Paul breaks it down very well here in I Corinthians 15:1-4…

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scripture;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures; “

Consider these verses…

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

Jesus speaking here. “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Romans 5:1

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God, by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” Romans 5:8-10

You see, apart from a relationship with Christ, we are God’s enemies and under God’s wrath. That is why Jesus (who is God the Son) had to be born in the flesh (he’s 100% man/100% God), live a perfectly sinless life to fulfill the Law so that He could give His life on the cross as our sin-substitute. God did this because He is an incredibly loving God.

If you’d like to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior here’s what you need to know and do:

(A)- Admit you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:10 says, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

(B)- Believe! Believe that Jesus Christ is God (He is God the Son) and that He died on the cross, shedding His blood for YOUR sins and that by His work alone, that is, by His death, burial, and resurrection (see I Corinthians 15:1-4 above) you will receive God’s forgiveness of your sins and you will have eternal life. You are putting your trust in Him alone.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Baptism, church membership, good deeds, etc…have no part in this saving faith. Baptism is the first step of obedience and is your public identification with Christ, but it has no part in saving your soul.

(C)- Confess. You just tell God (pray) you believe what I shared above, if indeed you do, and you want Him to save you and that you do trust in His provision (payment He make for you at the cross).

Romans 10:9-10 says….

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
