Off-grid pantry planner

It was great taking the last week off from posting here. I needed a break from the machinery of blogging to just reflect on where I should go with it for the new year. The result is that I feel I need to make my blog reflect, parallel if you will, my conviction to be Intentional in my parenting and my home-life. I will still do reviews and giveaways and family fun and homeschooling, but expect to see more in 2013.

More of what?

Simply, a more transparent “me” as I work at obeying the Lord to be a godly parent to my boys : because I believe Proverbs 22:6. And…

Train up a child, Proverbs 22:6

To work on building my home, because I believe Proverbs 14:1.

A wise woman buildeth her house.

Some of the definitions of the word “build” according to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary:

“to form by ordering and uniting materials by gradual means into a composite whole;

to cause to be constructed;

to develop according to a systematic plan, by a definite process, or on a particular base;

increase, enlarge;

to stimulate to vigorous action;

to use as a foundation <building on past experience>” .

And what is the foundation I and my husband are building on?

The fear of the Lord.

What “fear” do I speak of?

This one:  “to have a reverential awe of <fear God>,

: profound reverence and awe especially toward God”.  And yes, the other kind of “fear” has a part too.

Hebrews 10:30-31 “For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

I want my children to understand that God is not just loving, but He is just and holy and cannot behold sin. I think many people have a problem believing that a loving God would send someone to hell. But the truth is and the bible teaches that God will judge sin one day. Right now he is being patient. He isn’t “willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9

Do you have trouble understanding God? Do you wonder why so many “Christian” faiths can differ in their beliefs while reading from the supposed same book (the Bible)?

My husband and I (and others I know) are committing to reading through the bible this year. Would you like to join us?

Leave me a comment or email me privately if you’d like to know the schedule we are following. I’ve already joined a private Facebook group for this, but if there is enough of you interested we can start a separate group to meet in as well to keep each other accountable and to discuss (not debate) what we are reading.   halloffamemoms (at) gmail (dot) com

May your year be blessed!
