A few more days and we begin a new year. Are you ready? A few things come to my mind as I think ahead to 2011 and the beginning of another “new year”.

First, I believe the beginning of a new year is what gets people who are tired of their “old” ways psyched to make changes- new year’s resolutions. I bet it also causes some anxiety  for those who feel a new year reminds them of their failure to keep the previous year’s resolutions- thus they set off determined to succeed this year to lose that extra weight, save that extra money, or stop that bad habit.  Change is good, but some changes need to be made regardless of the beginning of a new year. Some changes require more than good intention and self-will. Some changes can only be made when you submit to God’s authority in your life.

Though I may not make “resolutions” I do need to buckle down on some things in my life and around our home. I’ll be sharing some of my goals  in coming blog posts.

Second, I think of those who probably fear the end of the world. You know… the Mayans and 2012 kind of thing. I know the world won’t end in 2012 because I believe the bible and God has a lot to say about the future of this world.

Does a new year bring you anxiety or hope?

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Philippians 4:8
