I’ve been trying out the New mouth rinse in the Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse Test Drive Program over the last few weeks and it is invigorating as they say. It has the burn that is well known in mouth rinses that contain alcohol. I could do with less burn, but if a rinse contains alcohol I guess the burn can’t be helped much.

I definitely prefer to use a rinse, burn or not, because it does give me some peace of mind that the germs I’m missing while brushing are hopefully being killed off – and all the more now that I’m 41 and just had my first major dental incident ;(

About two weeks ago I found out one of the teeth in an area of my mouth that was bothering me was chipped and cracked (not too mention had a cavity). Before I made it to my next appointment to get said cavity fixed and the tooth prepped for a crown- I broke that tooth while eating.  All that to say, that tooth- cavity and cap- got taken care of that day. I’ve been living with a “crude cap” on my tooth until my crown is ready.

I really think rinsing with the Crest Pro-Health rinse has been a great thing to help conquer germs around that cap. That area of my gum/tooth had been sensitive in the past (before my capping), but its not now. I’ve been using it about twice a day- right after I brush. Using a rinse has helped in the past so I assume the rinse is keeping my gums in good status.

However, I’ve also noticed that some of my teeth have taken on a darker stain since using this rinse. I’m not sure if its the mouth rinse, though I really think it is. I remember something like this happening years ago. Maybe its a reaction my teeth have to the Crest formula.  At any rate,  I’ve been able to reverse that staining with some targeted brushing and a little hydrogen-peroxide (only used it on one occasion).

This is my follow up to post one about my testing a Crest product.
