Last Saturday I began a weekly Facebook Live series on my Hall of Fame Moms Facebook Page titled “Saturdays with Tracy”. Not a very creative title but that’s what it is.

You can see my first Satuday Facebook Live video here.

Today is week two and because of the overwhelming grief in our area due to six student suicides from one school district near me and a couple other suicides nearby I thought it appropriate if not needful to share some encouraging resources for parents, grandparents and care-givers.

At the end of this post I have a link to a suicide prevention help website that has phone numbers for various cities.  This week’s Facebook Live is also at the end of this post.

I have not completely finished reading all of the following books and I don’t agree with all of the beliefs that may be shared in them. My rule of thumb when reading books is to wisely discern between what is biblically correct and what information is not. I take the good and leave the bad. Use discernment when reading anything!

This post is basically the “show notes” for the Facebook Live – a place to list the resources I talked about in the video. Be sure to listen to the Facebook Live to get the context.

#2- The Encouraging Scripture for Parents

Get the free printable of “Fear of the LORD” verses at this link: Proverbs-FEAR of the LORD.

[This section will be updated after the Facebook Live.]

#3- Start a Local Prayer Group

Get together with other like-minded Christian women/moms and start a prayer group committed to praying over all the schools in your district. This can be done through

  • individual churches,
  • through the help of the Moms In Prayer organization
  • or by just two or more moms coming together on their own!

#4- Suicide Hotline Numbers

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide you need to reach out to someone for help. If you do not have a trusted individual, family member or pastor / youth group leader you have other options.

Don’t give in to the lies that you must take your own life or that your problems will end if you do. You are a living soul and you will spend eternity in one of two places. Don’t give up hope! If you don’t have someone in your life to reach out to you can call the suicide help hotline below.

Visit Suicide.org for help and to find numbers.

Ohio residents can look for a local crisis /suicide numbers listed alphabetically here: http://www.suicide.org/hotlines/ohio-suicide-hotlines.html
