Its Good Friday and I want to talk short and serious.

I don’t like religion and I have no desire to be “religious”. However, I go to church and serve there, I read my bible, I tell people about Jesus and even warn them about hell. Why?

Because all of that flows from a real relationship I have with God through Jesus Christ. Its real. Its not about a “to do” list. It starts and ends with truth. I know I’m a sinner in need of a Savior and I know Jesus is God and he paid for my sins so God would forgive me.

Romans 3:23-26 KJV

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say , at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”

I know it sounds deep but if you are open to the truth and sincerely ask God to show you the truth from the bible I believe he will because I Peter 3:9 says

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

He wants to save you more than you know. He’s patient and he’s waiting.

Do you know him or are you … just religious?

I have a few more things to say to those who lean more heavily towards the “just religious” side because the bible is clear that “just religion” is not acceptable to God. In fact, Jesus had this to say in Matthew 7:21-23

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in they name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Heavy. To think there will be people “that” religious who go to hell. This is why you need to take responsibility for your eternity, don’t depend on your priest or preacher alone. You have to know what the bible says for yourself and God will help you with this.

Are you willing to obey the bible over your church?

Are you willing to submit your will to God’s?

What are you waiting for?

I usually refer people to take the Good Test over at Way of the Master. It walks you through the 10 commandments to show you clearly why God considers you a sinner and what you need to do about it. The decision is  yours but at least you’ll have the information.

Also, for questions about eternity I recommend you request a free copy of the book One Heart Beat Away by Mark Cahill. He’s still giving it away for free. I have a copy myself.  AND, you can always shoot me an email or a comment if you have a question.

I’m praying for you myself and I hope you’ll stick around for more. You can subscribe here so you don’t miss any updates.
