After showing my sons some Pinterest ideas for making their Valentine’s party boxes they decided on minions.  While I did help with some of the tricky parts these are ultimately their boxes and they had the “creative last word”.

I didn’t know how we were going to get the purple one done until we were into it so I thought I’d share a few points. This was the trickier of the two to do.

#1 –  I used a rectangular tissue box and opened one end of it. I tore off a couple of those top flaps and left the other two. This will hold the “hair” in place and allow it to be removed so my son can reach in and get his cards without tearing the box apart.

#2  – I took a doubled layer of purple tissue paper and wrapped it around the box with the pieces needing taped being on the backside.

This opening allowed me to tape the tissue around the minion’s mouth (which is the regular opening the tissues are pulled from). I also taped the teeth in.

#3  & #4 –  For the hair I just took maybe 2 layers of tissue paper and folded upwards while twisting the middle into an “end” and then taped it to make it a bit stronger. This easily plugs into the box and can be removed.

I also cut the flaps from the top of the toaster box we used for the yellow minion so my other son could get cards out of his box without destroying it.

And thats, that! Now we just have to get all our Valentine’s cards finished and we will be ready to party with our homeschooling friends!
